So if you didn't already know this about me, I am African, from the eastern part of Nigeria to be precise.
Just to give you a little background, to my culture (Igbo), there is a festival that takes place every year round about August time called Iri Ji (New Yam Festival). The principle behind this festival is so simple, basically it is celebrated as result of the harvest season. The harvesting of New Yam. It is a proud moment for the farmers and they harvest there crops and its just celebrating and enjoying the harvesting season. As we are in the UK, we don't want to be left out of this celebration. So Nigerians (Igbo's) also take part in this celebration of the New Yam Festival. It is such an amazing time for everyone to be decked out in their native attire and enjoy our native food (yummy)! From the adults to the little babies are all dressed up in their native attire, which is such a beautiful sight to see. Everyone is so merry and we celebrate, eat, dance and just have fun. I know this is not usually my fashion blog post, but I really wanted share this with you guys. I hope you guys enjoy the pictures and get a little feel of my culture.
